Farm Walk

A Farm Walk, fantastic views and sunsets, peace and quiet all form part of the attractions to be found at Castle Creavie. Although isolated we are not remote situated only 4 miles from the popular harbour town of Kirkcudbright, which has a good range of pubs, cafés and restaurants.

Fishing

If fishing is your passion, then stocked lochs, burns and rivers such as the Nith, Cree, Esk , & Urr await the keen Angler. Loch Ken, famous for some large Pike is a vast stretch of water only

Off shore the sea angler benefits from the warming Gulf Stream of the Solway Firth.
Hire a boat at Kirkcudbright to fish for tope, ray and pollock or try from the rocks for cod or dogfish. You can download this filef for more information on Sea Angling in Galloway

Secluded Lochs offer coarse or fly-fishing in picturesque settings.

Water Sports

Loch Ken provides exceptional water sports facilities in a zoned area. From Water Ski-ing to Sailing , Wind Surfing and Canoeing.....

... .. and of course you are right on the doorstep of Kippford, one of Galloways most lovely seaside villages.
The estuary at Kippford now form a popular yachting and sailing centre, with a yacht's chandler, Kippford Slipway Ltd., providing equipment and repairs,storage, and a launching and recovery service . The busy sailing club holds regattas during the summer months.

Walking

Experience the beauty and solitude of our Galloway Hills including the Southern Upland Way. Climb Screel and enjoy the views over the Solway to the Lake District beyond or how about Merrick - Galloway's highest with majestic Glentrool nestling below. Coastal paths aplenty or walk along some of the beautiful beaches on the Solway.

Cycling & Mountain Biking

Where Cycling all began! Quiet roads and plenty of routes to discover.

Dumfries and Galloway is the venue for the 2009 World Mountain Biking Conference.
The lodge is only a mile from Scotland's Biking Heaven The 7stanes course at Dalbeattie Forest and with another 4 of the 7 Stanes in close proximity, Glentrool, Mabie, Kirroughtree and Ae, Galloway is a Mountain Biking Destination second to none.

With routes and trails to suit all abilities. Families and novices can enjoy the many Green Trails and the more experienced will be 'sorely' tested on some of the superb single track and technical areas.

Golfing

With over 30 Golf Courses in Dumfries & Galloway the golfer is certainly spoilt for choice. From Championship Links at Southerness or Powfoot to the well manicured greens at the Dumfries and County plus a variety of of testing 9 hole courses for the higher handicapper or beginner.

You can even walk from Kippview to Craigieknowe, a 9-hole par 3 course kept in excellent condition with many short but challenging holes. This is a great course for beginners to enjoy whilst at the same time presenting a fair test for the more experienced golfer.

Colvend Golf Course is only a few miles down the road. With 18 challenging holes in one of the most attractive parts of Galloway with spectacular views across the Solway towards the Lake District. The course tends to be hilly but you are rewarded with wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

Galloway Gardens

Benefiting from the Gulf Stream, Galloway has some of the loveliest gardens in Scotland.
The National Trust run Threave Gardens in Castle Douglas, a 64-acre ornamental garden with interest throughout the year from a large and varied plant collection and landscape features. A Scottish Baronial House open to the public. 1500-acre estate with way marked trails, bird hides, and a wild fowl sanctuary.

For the Children

If the children get bored with beaches and biking there are lots of attractions to tire them out.
Cream o' Galloway has an ice cream parlour, a tearoom and shop. Their fabulous adventure playground includes the indoor 'Smugglers' Warren' with its underground tunnels and climbing towers, an indoor Under 5s play area and an extensive outdoor play area including pedal karts, 3D maze and viewing tower. (There are also pleanty of nice quite walks for the adults!!)

Mabie Farm Park is also ideal for the more energetic family, The Farm Park nestles against Mabie Forest and covers an area of over forty acres. Among the many attractions at the Farm Park are a Dirt Buggy Track, a Grass Sledging Slope, Pedal Go Karts, a Boating Pond, lots of animals and a 5000 square foot Indoor Playbarn, these are only a few of the attractions at the park.

Dalscone Farm is more suited to younger children with a large indoor play area and outdoor Outdoors, there are trampolines, pedal karts, go karts, crazy golf, more play equipment and games... also don't forget to say hi to their farm animal.... and a nice cafe for when you are in need of a refreshing cup of tea!

Kirkcudbright has a Children's Festival and lots more on during the summer months to entertain both the young and not so young!
